Junkers lands in Italy with an exclusive event at Venice's Nicelli Airport
Junkers, an iconic name in global aviation and a symbol of German artisanal mastery, has proudly announced its official entry into the Italian market. A significant milestone that was celebrated on July 15, 2025, with an exclusive event held at the evocative setting of Venice’s Nicelli Airport, a place rich in history and aeronautical heritage. Founded on the visionary legacy of engineer and aviation pioneer Hugo Junkers, the company has profoundly influenced the evolution of aviation with groundbreaking innovations. From the creation of the revolutionary Junkers J 1, the world’s first all-metal aircraft, to the recent A50 and A60 models, true masterpieces assembled by hand to the highest standards of excellence, Junkers has continued to embody a pioneering spirit that blends tradition and modernity. «Our mission is to bring the beauty of flight to life», stated Dieter Morszech, CEO of Junkers Aircraft. «Italy, with its deep passion for lifestyle, design, and freedom, is the ideal home for our next chapter».
The launch event, conceived as an immersive celebration of the brand’s identity, took place in one of the most evocative locations in European aviation: Venice’s Nicelli Airport. Located on the island of Lido, the airport represents a milestone in the history of flight in Italy. Not by chance, it was from there in 1926 that the first Italian commercial flight took off, operated by Transadriatica aboard a Junkers aircraft bound for Vienna. The terminal, inaugurated in 1935, is a prominent example of Italian rationalist architecture, designed by Mario Emmer and adorned with frescoes by the futurist artist Tato (Guglielmo Sansoni), evoking an era of dreams, speed, and aerial conquests. In this unique atmosphere, Junkers welcomed guests, partners, and enthusiasts for an exclusive day of celebration, elegance, and innovation. The program included demonstration flights, static displays of the most iconic models, and the rare opportunity to co-pilot a Junkers A50 on an exciting flight over the Venetian lagoon.
The Italian debut was not limited to a symbolic event. Junkers Aircraft announced the opening of its first official headquarters in Italy, located within the Nicelli Airport complex. At the heart of this project is the historic Esso refueling station, which will be restored and transformed into a permanent showroom and reception point for clients and visitors. This space, combining vintage charm with contemporary innovation, will also serve as the departure point for exclusive test flights scheduled throughout the summer of 2025, offering Italian aviation enthusiasts the chance to personally experience the Junkers brand. With its entry into the Italian market, Junkers has strengthened its global presence and reaffirmed its commitment to blending the refined culture of flight with aesthetics, functionality, and tradition. A language that Italy embraces naturally, being a cradle of beauty, style, and technical ingenuity. The arrival in the Bel Paese has not only represented a commercial expansion but also a return to its roots: a tribute to the historic relationship between the German brand and Italian aviation, sealed by an event that celebrated the past, present, and future of flight with timeless elegance. Junkers Aircraft has not only brought airplanes to Italian skies: it has brought a vision. A vision of flight that is not just movement, but art, emotion, and freedom. And Italy has already begun to soar with it.
