Happy Wednesday!

Welcome to the Cover Reveal of Forever Ours by Cassia Leo.

Forever Ours is the highly anticipated prequel to the New York Times and USA Today bestselling Shattered Hearts Series. This can be read as a stand alone or before Relentless.

Sometimes, it takes more than love to mend a shattered heart.

After eight years of being tossed around from one home to another, never forming any meaningful friendships or bonds with her foster families, Claire's caseworker gives her an ultimatum: Behave or your next home will be a halfway house.

When fifteen-year-old Claire arrives at the home of Jackie Knight and meets Jackie's fifteen-year-old son, tattooed guitarist Chris, she fears she'll be seeing the inside of that halfway house soon. But Chris isn't like any other guy Claire has ever encountered and he soon gains her trust through his music and unwavering patience.

Claire has finally found her forever home and she and Chris soon find themselves falling in love.

But Chris’s dreams of musical stardom and Claire’s need for a stable home soon put their love in jeopardy. Chris struggles deeply with his plans for the future, entirely reluctant to leave Claire behind; until Claire does something that may break their love — and the only home she’s comes to know — forever.

There are moments in life that you know will be burned into your memory forever. Chris calls these “movie screen moments” — where everything slows down and you know that something important is about to happen that will change the course of the story. He says that the best songs are written about movie screen moments. I don’t know if this is true. All I know is that this is one of those moments.

I can feel it in the air. And I know that when I look back, I’ll remember everything about this moment in time; the smells, the tastes, the sounds, and the touch. The touch.

Chris and I are both sitting on the carpet with our backs leaned against the sofa, our fingers woven together as MTV plays in the background. This is something we’ve done every day for the past six weeks, ever since summer break began. As soon as Jackie leaves for work in the morning, we both get up and have breakfast together. He usually makes me a bowl of cereal or I make us both some scrambled eggs. Then we hang out in the living room for a few hours until his friends come over. Sometimes, Chris plays his guitar for me. Sometimes, we sit here and pretend to watch MTV, holding hands while Mr. Miyagi lays out across both of our laps, begging to be petted. Well, I don’t know if Chris is pretending to watch MTV, but I know I am.

All I can seem to think about when I’m near Chris is whether or not this will last or if he will be just another person I have to lose. But this doesn’t stop me from enjoying these hours spent together. I’ve never been happier in all my life. Not even when my mom was alive.

I’ll admit. I was sort of hoping today would be different then all the other mornings Chris and I have hung out. Not that I don’t like this small moment of closeness we share every day. But today’s my sixteenth birthday. I guess I figured that would make today even more special for us. I was kind of hoping I might get my first kiss.

“Tristan’s coming over in half an hour and we’re going to the mall. You want to come?”

My heart sinks a little. Chris knows that Tristan and I don’t get along very well. He hasn’t even wished me a happy birthday and now he’s leaving to hang out with Tristan.

I try to let go of his hand and he tightens his grip. “What’s wrong?”

I attempt to pull my hand away again and this time he lets go. “I don’t want to go to the mall.”

“Are you okay?”

I stand up and he immediately stands with me. “I’m just tired. I think I’m gonna go back to bed.”

I take a few steps, but he grabs my hand to stop me. When I look over my shoulder at him, he’s wearing a crooked smile. “Can you take Mr. Miyagi upstairs with you?”

My shoulders slump as I turn toward Chris’s Shiba Inu where he’s lounging on the sofa.

Chris chuckles. “I’m only kidding. I’m not going anywhere with Tristan today. I’m taking you for a ride.”

“On my bike.”

“I’m not going on that thing.”

Chris got his motorcycle license the week after he turned sixteen less than three months ago. He’s been trying to get me to ride with him on his crappy racing bike ever since the first time I let him hold my hand.

“Come on,” he pleads. “I have something I want to show you, but I want to do it alone. I don’t want to ask Tristan to take us. Please?”

I stare into his eyes for a moment and he tilts his head. His brown hair always looks calculatedly messy, the way it’s just long enough to cover his ears yet still sticks out in all the right places. His skin is so smooth; I often find myself wishing I could press my lips to his cheek just to feel the softness of his skin. And don’t even get me started on the metal stud in his tongue. The way he plays with it when he’s tuning his guitar gives me butterflies. I don’t know what Chris sees in me other than the way my hand seems to fit so perfectly in his.

He pulls me a little closer and lifts my hand to his mouth. My heart races as he lays a soft kiss on my knuckles. “Claire, it’s your birthday. And I know you probably haven’t had a whole lot of birthdays you want to remember for the rest of your life, but I want this birthday to be the one you never forget. Let me take you for a ride.”

I stare at his lips as he says these words and that’s when it happens. This is that moment; the moment where everything slows down and nothing is ever the same.

Review: The Dream Thieves by Maggie Stiefvater

Hi all!

It's been too long again :)

Title: The Dream Thieves
Series: The Raven Cycle #2
Release date: 19th of September 2013
Reading level: FICTION – JUVENILE: Contemporary, Paranormal, YA
Published by: Scholastic Children's Books
Pages: 450 pages in Kindle e-book format
Source: Bought from the Bookdepository

Now that the ley lines around Cabeswater have been woken, nothing for Ronan, Gansey, Blue, and Adam will be the same. Ronan, for one, is falling more and more deeply into his dreams, and his dreams are intruding more and more into waking life. Meanwhile, some very sinister people are looking for some of the same pieces of the Cabeswater puzzle that Gansey is after....

The first book really took me by surprise on how GOOD it was, character relationships, the mysterious background, the promise of a great romance, not your typical cliché characters, etc. So I was more than eager to get my hands on the second book. And while I would have preferred the focus to be on other, more favorite characters, the end result was more than satisfying.

The atmosphere of this book plays a huge part in what makes it special – it’s mysterious, sinister, foreboding and full of underlying emotions and secrets waiting to be let out. And after two books I still feel as if we’ve only scratched the surface of what really is the purpose or main idea of the series. The characters are still complex and deep with new layers added, but not overly complicated and in no way boring or predictable. Not to mention, the writing remains creative, smooth, descriptive, clear, and just a pleasure to follow.

I absolutely loved loved loved how the romance developed. It was really subtle and by far not on the very foreground next to everything mayor that was going on, but it was simply romantic in an innocent and simplistic sense, even though nothing about the whole situation is anywhere near straight-laced and easy. It was so final when Blue figured out her feelings and yet, it was the beginning of something huge, even if wasn’t on that level in this book. I’m so looking forward to where and how this couple will end up. Nothing except a fairy tale ending will do, but, I have to admit that such a conclusion probably won’t fit with the overall feel and tone of the series.

My main con is that, it’s entirely up to preference, but Ronan isn’t to me as engaging as other main characters. It was of course exciting to have him figure out his secrets and family matters, but I didn’t enjoy him as the main character in this book. I guess he’s just too unrelatable to me, I couldn’t understand why he acted the way he did most of the time, plus, the attitude wasn’t appealing as well. This, however, doesn’t mean that his whole situation wasn’t very intriguing and unique.

Blue is sassy, opinionated and likable, but in no way all over the place or overwhelming. She’s not the main character in this book, but as little as she does appear, she had some great and memorable moments. I’m really fond of her as a character. I thought Blue and Noah were adorable together, they really came across as BFF-s, people who just are on the same page and like each other’s company completely platonically. They had some adorable scenes together.

Gansey is simply charming in my eyes. He’s dashing and quirky and intriguing. Something about him comes across as so old-fashioned-ly gentleman-ly or as an eccentric rich guy – and I like both sides.

I tried to understand Adam, but despite everything, he managed to annoy me too much. On a basic level I can grasp his reasoning to act as he does, but why must he be so stubborn and independent. I didn’t like him making himself into a martyr figure and being selfish with his extreme need to be unselfish.

Ronan remains a mystery, at least his character and what makes him tick. He’s too “savage” for me I guess. Not that I didn’t absolutely love his hidden care and worry for his friends and family.

A deserving second book and an overall impressive and memorable series. If you liked the first you will definitely like this one. That is all that needs to be said.

4 stars!

Note: Sexual Content

When he probed with more questions about what I looked for in query letters, I told him I liked romance novels and I basically looked for potential book boyfriends.

“Book boyfriends?” He chuckled out loud. As I watched, his chest moved to the rhythm of his laugh. “Really?” He took his last bite and chugged his coffee.

“Yes…really.” I had already finished my plate since I was too nervous to talk.

“Is that like for people who can’t get one in real life?” He was totally amused by this notion.

“No…silly,” I giggled. “Readers read books to help them escape from the daily routine of life. Many of these romance books have a swoon-worthy, gorgeous guy with really nice abs and a six pack, who can deliver wild, hot sex.” Just the thought alone made me turn red and I froze when he gave me a heated look. Then, his eyes concentrated on my lips, shifted to my breasts, then back up to my eyes when I said ‘wild, hot sex.’ I just described him and what he could potentially do.

Gravitating toward me, his eyes locked lustfully on mine. His lips were just inches away as they parted to speak and I didn’t know how he got so close to me. “I would like to be your book boyfriend,” he said with the hottest sound that could sing out of his lustrous, lick-able mouth. The puff of his breath on my lips sizzled way down to my sex. He reached out to my face, his thumb sensually sliding, feather light to touch my bottom lip with one long, slow stroke. As I watched his tongue glide over his bottom lip at the same time, I quivered beyond control.

Completely dumbfounded, I sat there staring at him and in my mind, I had already taken off my clothes for him. Blinking because that was all I could do, I wanted to say yes, but my pride and my head knew better and stopped me. Suddenly, he broke his gaze and it felt like he had just dumped ice water over my head. “Is that what a book boyfriend would say and do?” he chuckled as he picked up our plates and took them to the kitchen.

What just happened? I was almost certain my face was deep red, because I felt it down to my toes.

Check out the NEW cover to SOMETHING GREAT...

She didn’t know what she was missing…until he found her.

Fresh out of college, life was simple and plain for Jeanella Mefferd. Every part of her life was smooth sailing; her friends, her job, and even the guy she’d started dating. Then one night, while at dinner, she spotted someone who made her feel things she’d never felt before—dangerous, heart pounding and breathless heat. Let the holiday season begin!

Let the Christmas season start!

Hello everybody!
It's been a while, almost a whole month since I have written anything for my blog. I am very happy that my co-blogger Liis entertains you with her awesome reviews! I have been doing lots of reading in the meanwhile and I am counting on posting few reviews during the upcoming days .

Thanksgiving is here and even though it's not celebrated here, I like the idea of Thanksgiving. I try to do my best appreciating people around me daily, but Thanksgiving is a very good time to put things into a different perspective and remind myself how lucky I am.

Thanksgiving pictures very often present a turkey, but I preferred this picture because it has a meaning for me. This decoration was a surprise which waited for me this morning at work. My colleague and a good friend knows, that I do love everything even remotely related to Christmas and she made this surprise for me. You have no idea how wonderful it is to come to work and finding this beautiful creation on my table. (One of the golden butterflies was on my keyboard!) She simply wanted to do something for me and that is exactly what is incredibly heart-warming. Besides making me smiling a lot, it made me happy and giddy inside. It was unexpected and sweet and that is one of the reasons I am considering myself being a very lucky person. These kind of small gestures do matter.

Having people around you who love you and appreciate you is a blessing. Now it's my turn to give. As said, I am doing my best to share the love and appreciate people I care about. I am well aware, that this blog post is only a tiny-tiny way of giving, but I still want to do it. It's just a blog post, but an important one for me. I also know, that half of the people I love, won't probably read it and it does not matter for me that they won't see it, because I can tell them all this in person. I also know, that this post will not cover all things and people I am grateful for in my life, but including you all will demand me writing a whole book (or series) about it. So this post is for me. And for those who take time reading it. :)

Here we go!

I am grateful that for 7 years and 14 days ago I became a mom. My son has given me the greatest pleasures in my life. I am thankful for his unconditional love, his smiles, his millions of questions about life, his joyful eyes, his jokes. He has taught me many things about life and love, and it has been the greatest journey in my life. When he looks at me, I see nothing but love and that is an amazing gift to have: the gift of motherhood.

I am thankful of my family: my parents, my sis and her family. They have ALWAYS been there (and here) for me, supportive and loving. For our family - the blood is always thicker than water. When happy, they cheer with me, when I'm down, they lift me up, when lost, they help me finding my path. I do appreciate the values I've received from them.

I am very grateful for being healthy. There have been ups and downs during the last two years with several surgeries, but as a result of it, my health is considerably better than it used to be. I am thankful, that I've lost 40 kg (88 pounds) which literally has made my life easier and also healthier. I am thankful, that I had stubbornness and willpower to go through with it and I am very happy about the results.

I am grateful for my friends. Far or close, I appreciate you, your love and I am thankful for your friendship!

I am grateful for all people who have taught me new things or who have forced me to learn new things about myself. Thank you for existing!

I am thankful for people who make me smile, even though I might not know you and never will! The fact that you bring smile on my lips is worth more than you know!

I am grateful for all the books that have ever been written and will be written! I am thankful for all the existing and future authors in the world! You have given me incredible pleasures and taking me to worlds and places I have never been! Thank you for your creativity! Thank you for all readers in the world making it possible for authors! I am thankful having people taking their time reading my blog! Love you!

I am thankful for being able to travel and see the world! Hence my gratitude goes to all my employers I have ever had and will have. You have made it possible for me to explore and given me adventures I never thought possible! I am blessed for being able to see and visit different parts of the world and experiencing so many different cultures and religions. It has made my life richer!

I am grateful for my life and all the eperiences I have had in my life. It doesn't matter if they have been good or bad, these experiences have made me to the person I am today. They have made me stronger and I sincerely hope also wiser. I have learned a lot and I am still thankful that I am able to learn and adjust according to what my life brings me. It has taught me to give, to forget and to forgive and last, but not least, to love and appreciate small things in the life.

Happy reading and happy upcoming holidays to all of you! I wish you happiness, love and peace in mind!

Review: Archangel's Legion by Nalini Singh - 5 Star Review!

Hi all!

A new week a new review :)

Author: Nalini Singh
Title: Archangel’s Legion
Series: Guild Hunter #6
Release date: 31th of October 2013
Reading level: FICTION – ADULT: Romance, Contemporary, Paranormal
Published by: Gollancz
Pages: 384 pages in Kindle e-book format
Source: Bought from for Kindle

Angels are falling from the sky in New York, struck down by a vicious, unknown force.

Vampires are dying impossibly of disease.

Guild hunter Elena Deveraux and the Archangel Raphael must discover the source of the wave of death before it engulfs their city and their people, leaving New York a ruin and Raphael’s Tower under siege by enemy archangels.

Yet even as they fight desperately to save the city, an even darker force is stirring, its chill eyes trained on New York…and on Raphael. Rivers of crimson and nightmares given flesh, the world will never again be the same…

I was impressed by this book, the series has done the unimaginable and managed to only get better and better as we go along. There is always a book you like less than the rest in a favorite series, but this “curse” has managed to evade the Guild-Hunter series and please please don’t sway from that path!

The story was full of sub-plots and multitudes of storylines, but not for one second did it get messy or confusing, they were masterfully intertwined with another and all received center stage at one point or another. My favorite amongst them was the hesitation and fear from Elena and Raphael regarding his developing new mysterious powers. The emotional play between them with this issue was superbly described and handled. Also, there were many interesting revelations and developments with Elena’s family, which were quite enlightening.

The action was awesome, it was like watching a top class war/fight movie, especially during the latter half where everyone, man, angel and vampire gets down and dirty. I’m usually bored reading about such battles, but it was so engaging and vividly depicted that it simply ended too soon. There were also some nasty moments that just gave momentum to all the fighting and blood spilt.

Some itty bitty negative parts: I’m tired of Lijuan! Also, the end twist came out of nowhere without any warning. I liked how it turned out and how the balance was restored in favor of Raphael, but it felt slightly out of place with its abruptness and no hints beforehand.

The universe of the series has expanded and continues to do that at a fast and enjoyable rate. Characters become more fleshed out and complex, and I like that the books give that opportunity to them to just become more. This world really feels like something that could actually exist, it’s realistic in a nonrealistic sort of way. I have to admit that I don’t read a lot of such urban fantasy/paranormal books, but I have really struck the goldmine with discovering this series.

Elena and Raphael are the ultimate power couple. They are just overwhelming together and even apart. Apart from Roarke and Eve from the In Death series, I’d never thought that a book about the same couple could remain intriguing, fresh and gripping after one or two books, but I can’t get enough of the sexy angel duo. Maybe because there is still heaps to explore and solve in the confines of their relationship that it can’t get boring with so many topics still untouched. In addition, having other plotlines as strong pillars for their romance gives the story more meat on the bones, excitement and meaning. Whatever the magic formula, it works and I can’t wait for another installment with them as main couple.

I cannot not mention the specific magnificent members of Raphael’s Seven who had significant roles in this book. Some were only mentioned in passing, unfortunately, but those who had opportunities to shine and were in on the action, really amazed me. The battles and their roles in them were awesomely showcased. I love those guys and my affections deepened because we again were provided snippets of new information from the backgrounds and mysteries of some of them. Also, I can’t wait to get my hands on Illium’s book!

Another great addition to a great series! If you’re a fan then you will love it! Now, bring on the next one, I heard the hero is not going to be anyone from the Seven though, buuu, but oh well. I bet it will be fantastic anyway.

5 stars!

Review: Elite by Rachel Van Dyken

Hi all!

A review for Friday :)

Author: Rachel Van Dyken
Title: Elite
Series: Eagle Elite #1
Release date: 9th of July 2013
Reading level: FICTION – JUVENILE: Romance, Contemporary, YA
Published by: Forever
Pages: 222 pages in Kindle e-book format
Source: Bought from for Kindle

For Tracey Rooks, life with her grandparents on a Wyoming farm has always been simple. But after her grandmother's death, Tracey is all her grandfather has. So when Eagle Elite University announces its annual scholarship lottery, Tracey jumps at the opportunity to secure their future and enters. She isn't expecting much-but then she wins. And life as she knows it will never be same . . .

The students at Eagle Elite are unlike any she's ever met . . . and they refuse to make things easy for her. There's Nixon, gorgeous, irresistible, and leader of a group that everyone fears: The Elect. Their rules are simple. 1. Do not touch The Elect. 2. Do not look at The Elect. 3. Do not speak to The Elect. No matter how hard she tries to stay away, The Elect are always around her and it isn't long until she finds out the reason why they keep their friends close and their enemies even closer. She just didn't realize she was the enemy -- until it was too late.

I took up this book solely for the reason that it sounded so incredibly similar to one of my favorite manga Hana Yori Dango. And as big of a guilty pleasure with a soap opera-ish ridiculous plot it is (but it still all GOOD), the same can be said for the Elite series’ first book. And the similarities don’t end there. BUT, luckily, it this book ended up being more different that I feared.

Let’s count down some of the good and bad:

I enjoyed the beginning, maybe because it resembled HYD the most in that part, but I was gripped reading about this simple country girl butting heads with the rich, powerful and beautiful and even win several battles. Also, entering this new elite world, with crazy rules, regulations and being completely over the top, was exciting! I loved the first part. Unfortunately, I totally lost my grip on the book by the second half where all those revelations were being thrown at me. Not because I didn’t understand or follow anymore, but because it was just somehow “wrong” or unbelievable or out of place or … I don’t even know an appropriate word for this. I didn’t overly appreciate the turn the book took, but I was still on the edge of my seat, so the second part wasn’t all bad.

I thought Trace was potentially a great heroine once she gets a solid footing in the new and completely forging environment and starts kicking butts. Which she also did a couple of times (and, oh, how I cheered), but somehow her spark just faded and she became your typical complaining precious package to protect and hold dear.

The guys: I can’t really whine much, because while Nixon, a complete unredeemable douche one moment, managed to be so incredibly swoony, sweet and considerate in the next. I didn’t, however, like his too hot and eternal love for Trace, it was at times too overwhelming. Chase was an essentially good guy that will not get the girl of course. The other two guys in the quartet all had their roles to play and purpose, so as I said, the guys were enjoyable.

I didn’t like the love triangle in HYD and I naturally didn’t like it in this book. Enough said.

The story was simply gripping, fast-paced and addicting. I can see why so many people love it and I myself will come back for seconds, but I still can’t pretend like it doesn’t have the faults it does, and it has a lot honestly saying.

Trace – I’m still hoping she fulfills my dreams and becomes a kickass, but with so much testosterone surrounding her, I’m afraid she will remain an opinionated delicate flower. If only she could become the magnificent “weed” that was Tsukushi from HYD. I’m not giving up hope! I believe in you Trace!

Nixon – I found him very intriguing and a potentially brilliant hero. He’s full of contradictions, but in a good way.

I think this book is a hit or miss, those that love it really adore it and those who find it ridiculous find it such as a whole. I liked it, it’s perfect guilty pleasure material, but then again I can’t overlook the aspects that make me iffy and I find lacking. So, find this out for yourself to which category you belong to.

P.S. Read Hana Yori Dango (Boys Over Flowers). It’s a one of the greatest Shoujo manga out there (not to mention one of the longest – 36 volumes!), with TV adaptions made by Japan, South Korea, etc (the Japanese version is my nr 1 though along with the Japanese full feature film).

3 stars!
