Behind the Screen (23)

Happy Thursday!

Yay! It's Thursday and I can't wait to see what the stats and numbers are showing, because I haven't really taken a look for long time! From the end of July to be exact.
Besides that, let's see what I've been up to.

First of all, I am back after summer time to do some more serious blogging. It was nice to change the focus for a while and it has given me lots of energy to give back  - to my blog and to my audience.

Last year in November-December I was running a Holiday Short Story Contest. Guess what? I am already planning the second annual contest! Preparing the rules and it will be launched again in November. This year I have longer time to plan it, because last year I got the idea in November and there wasn't much time to think it through. But it was successful anyway, especially thinking of very short notice time. I want to get the word out earlier for the authors, so they would have more time. The prizes are getting bigger as well. :) Looking very much forward to it!

While blogging:

There was a period during the summer and until August, where I did not accept any review copies. It was partially due to many books received during BEA2012 and also because the long list of books what I wanted to buy, read and review myself. Now, I am accepting review copies again. That does not mean, that I will accept all the review requests I am getting, but it's still nice to be able to say yes to some authors who are reaching me. I still have quite long list of review books that I haven't even started reading yet.

Anyway, I have done a lot behind the screen during the last two weeks. I have updated Book and Blog Tours page and Giveaway page bringing them up to date. Regarding giveaways, I still need to update future and upcoming giveaway hops on the sidebar. September and October will be filled with bigger giveaway hops!

I have been so lucky getting contacts to few good authors whose work I adore. I am working to get couple of interviews organized with them. Can't tell you whom exactly I am talking about yet, but it seems to come exciting autumn and winter and I am looking forward surprising you. The most important thing here is, that these authors have attitudes and personalities bigger than life itself!

Since I am planning to participate in NaNoWriMo in November, there is a lot to prepare for the blog beforehand. I know it's ambitious to have both daily work, blogging, raising my kid alone and now also NaNoWriMo. i really want to do that, and that means that the planning is a keyword and I am counting also lot on my co-blogger Liis to help me with reviews.  Looking forward to it! To all of it!

One thing which is bugging me, is the Review page. I haven't really had time to add all the reviewed books to it, so this is my next bigger project, together with reorganizing my bookshelves. I need to take it step by step, so have patience with me. :)

While reading:

I have read a huge number of books during this summer, mostly because the weather has not been very inviting to go outside - rain, wind, chilly weather. It has served me well though, I have spent my spare time for reading. I won't review all the books I've read, but approximately half of them, all depending on time.

I also requested few books I'd like to read AND review from Netgalley and got them, so it means more entertaining hours of reading.

Reading has made me realize, that I need to reorganize my bookshelves. I have so many books on my shelves, so I need to make a structure, otherwise I don't find the books I want or need to read. The idea is also to have at least one shelf only for the books, which I have received/purchased that are on my To-Be-Read and To-Be-Reviewed lists and separate them from the books I have read/reviewed. I simply need a system to make my life easier. By the way, Liis is coming to help me and we have even set the date over a weekend where we will take all the books out from the shelves and then organize them and putting them back to the shelves. I think it will take more than just one day. :)
