Behind the Screen (7)

Hello everybody!

Since I had some visitors last night, then the usual Thursday post is coming today instead.

So, what has been going on behind what the eye can't see?! A lot of things!

News:

First of all news, which I am really excited about. I am going to be a reading judge on Rose City Romance Writers chapter in Portland, Oregon, US and the contest name is 2011 Golden Rose Contest. I am really very excited, it's going to be fun to read and evaluate the books participating at the contest. I got two books and I the deadline for filling in the score sheet is in the beginning of October. It's my first experience to judge and I will do my best to be thorough and fair.

I did another crazy and bold thing this week. I signed up to write articles about books, reading etc for Examiner.com. sometimes I am thinking where do I take the courage for these kind of things, but I guess that it's because I am not afraid to try new things. And I know that I can write. So let's see when the first one will actually be published :)

Last, but not least, I made another important decision for me. I have no clear idea yet where I will take the time for it, but it is something I have wanted for years. I will pick up my writing again. Don't worry, the blog will remain the same and I will not start sharing my writing process here, it will be mirrored in one way or another only in my I have a dream post series. The plot and title are already clear in my head and 3 first chapters written. I am guessing that it will have the full length of a novel. It's going to be contemporary romance book and I am writing it in English. The "worst" part of me starting writing again is, that I have already 2 other plots cooking in my head. Wish me luck! I know that I wish myself luck :) Time is the main issue here.

While blogging:

Well, besides the news, the last week has been busy, especially due to the blog tours I am hosting. Even the reviews I have done last week were related to the blog tours. August seems to be a blog-tour-month for me!
There will be 3 more blog tours in August and one of them includes interview, so this is also something I have been working on. next author interview will be with Chris Hall, author of Conversations with Moonflower.
I also managed to update giveaway page and blog tour page, adding some new information there.

While reading:

I have read 4 books since last Thursday and I have been really glad that all of these books have been paper-books. I do not mind reading an e-book, not at all, but it was really good for a change to keep a real book in my hands! All of these books were signed! I don't know why it is so important for me to have a signed book, but it kind of gives the feeling of personality to it, that this books is really meant for me to read.

Usually, when I read e-books I am using my laptop. I am using Kindle for PC application and it is very good, but I will need a real Kindle, because I do not like bringing my laptop to my bed. My bed is the favorite place for me to read. Most of the books I am receiving for reviewing are e-books, so Kindle is an absolute must for me!

I have had very good reading experiences during the week. I have cried while reading, I have laughed while reading, I have read both YA, Adult, Mystery, Romance and Crime books and they have all been very good. I will start writing the reviews tomorrow, because my son is visiting his dad this weekend and that means that I will have all time needed to write reviews. I simply want to use the time I have for me. :) There were two books, which I really really loved: Everblue by Brenda Pandos and No Evidence of a Crime by S. Connell Vondrak. These books are very different from each other, but they are very best from their genres. No Evidence of a Crime review will be up tomorrow and you will see Everblue review during the blog tour on Monday.

To sum it up, I am very well in my schedule with reading, but little behind with reviews. I should probably learn to write the review RIGHT after finishing the book, because if I start with the next book prior writing the review of what I have finished, I will have a problem, I can't stop reading before the next book is finished too. :)

Bookshelves:

2 more paper-backs arrived to my mailbox this week. They were sent to me by award-winning author J. Michael Orenduff. Both books are from the Pot Thief series: The Pot Thief Who Studied Einstein (2010) and The Pot Thief Who Studied Escoffier (2011). Both books are published by Oak Tree Press.

I have received several e-books for reviewing: some of them are scheduled to September and couple of them already to October, because I will have a two weeks of vacation in September and I could not promise to finish the reviews while I am having vacation. New e-books in my e-bookshelf are:

Witches Anonymous by Misty Evans (Samhain Publishing)
Vampire in Denial by Dale Mayer
Tuesday's Child by Dale Mayer
Dangerous Designs by Dale Mayer
The Baffled Beatlemaniac Caper by Sally Carpenter (Oak Tree Press)
A Christmas Evening Vigil by Robert Roman (Decadent Publishing)
