Behind the Screen (6)

Happy Thursday, everybody!

I love writing this post, because it let's me take a look backwards and really see what I have been doing for my blog. It makes me happy!

So, let's see how the week has been. I can already tell you that it has been quite productive week in several ways. Here we go!

Two big giveaways ended this week and the winners were announced. I have nothing specific coming up this week, at least I haven't agreed any giveaways for the week, but I have several authors who have said yes to giveaways, so I am waiting for their guest posts to be finalized.

Still there is one Scavenger Hunt running. It is organized by ImajinBooks and you can find the details here. The main prize is a Kindle plus 31 books as prizes, so it is definitely worth of participating and the blogs who are participating as hosts are interesting, too!

I won a competition of posting a review in amazon for Lisa Sanchez's book Obsessed and won 10$ GC from from Lisa for it. I haven't used it yet, because I am still thinking what book to buy.

While blogging:

I managed to write 8 reviews this week and I am very proud of that! It helped me getting rid of my backlog and it also made several authors happy to receive feedback for their books.

I managed to update my Book and Blog Tours page and added few of them, so in August I will be participating in 9 book tours. You can see the updated list here. I also added the book tour banners to my blog. Next week there will be one blog tour on the blog.

I have been preparing three interviews this week. One of them was with author and educator Pam Allyn, which was posted today. It was fun to do, because it was my first interview with author who writes non-fiction, so the questions had to be slightly different. The others are coming little later next week.

I also launched a post series I have a dream which will be a monthly feature. In this series of posts I will describe my road to reach one of my goals related to me and this blog and I will share my experiences I stumble up on in this feature.

While reading:

I think it's a book bloggers standard sentence - Too many good books to read, too little time.
I have had so many good reading experiences last week and I can't wait to express my emotions in reviews.

One little sweet experience which will not be described in the reviews is again with my son. I was reading Rowena Through the Wall, which is indeed a very funny book written by Melodie Campbell and I was giggling a lot. My son came to me and asked - Mommy, what are you doing? I replied to him, that I am reading. He asked  - Is it funny? I answered - Yes, very. After that he said - Read it to me. I said that this book is in English. He did not stop - Mommy, tell me! In our language!
Then the real fun started. This piece was easy to translate, but try to translate it into a way which would be understandable and yet funny to a 4-year old. The more I was translating and the harder I tried to explain the situation comics, the wider his eyes got and the more serious he got. He looked at me and said - I do not understand, it is not funny at all! Then he thought a little bit and said - Mommy, try to explain it in English to me. I thought, OK, why not, I will be smart and just read the situation to him in English, you know, out loud. I did. After 10 seconds of reading it to him my son started laughing. He made me laugh. After we both stopped laughing, he gave me a hug and said - This book is much funnier in English!!!

Not so many news here this week and therefore I will comment that on my In My Mailbox post on Sunday.

I have very good news on this area, at least very good news for me! I am getting a professional design for my blog. I thought it was about time to give my blog little extra on the "looks field" and decided to go for pro design. I know that looks ain't everything, but it still shows the personality of the blogger.
The topping of the cake is the fact WHO is doing my design. It is Rachel, who is better known as the owner of one of my favorite book blogs Parajunkee's View and Parajunkee's Design.

She is absolutely fabulous on both areas. I knew already, that she is a professional blogger, but you have no idea how surprised I was how quickly she understood what kind of design I would like to have. I have had a sneak peak  and she nailed it with the first time! I think it is fantastic, that she can take couple of keywords from a blogger and create something very unique out of it!

It will take some time before the design is visible in my blog, but seriously, I can't wait! Hopefully you will enjoy it as much as I know I will.

  1. 8 reviews in one week! Wow, how do you find time to read them all? My TBR list is growing faster than I can keep up. Good luck with your new blog design!

Also, I’m a new follower—wonderful blog! Stop by my blog and follow me too? :)

  2. Hi Rachel, thanks for coming by and thank you for encouraging words! Some of the books which I wrote review to were already read previously. I had a period of time where I read a lot, but did not manage to write a review. So it's not every week I can manage 8 books. My TBR list also grows, too fast!
I will come and visit your blog, too.
    Thanks again!
